The church of St. Benedict was a monastery of the Benedictine monastery of employees Gangi, founded in Nicosia around 1300, when the city had not yet expanded in the area.
In 1621 the monastery was granted to the Minimi of St. Francesco di Paola, who, a few years later, they built their monastery, free la¬sciando the monastery where he was open l`Ospe¬dale, who at first was intended for foreign patients to Nicosia, and later also to the poor citizens.
The original church remains the pointed arch portal which presents a contrast between l`architrave and jambs: these are devoid of ornaments, while l`architrave is finely carved with rosettes, features that are also found in the Cathedral portals and the church St. Francis d`Assisi.
L`antico complex no longer has a ceiling: the same arch is inserted in a mock masonry facade.
They were kept a golden statue of the saint, a picture painted on the table, and many relics (to our fate unknown days).
