Ancient building (Convent of the PP. Conventual Franciscans and adjoining church), remains only the ancient portal, placed in an open space under Piazza Garibaldi, at the confluence of the street Bartholomew Provencal, the alley and the homonymous street.
The portal, as well as the church, was built in a period not entirely certain, but we think in 1427 the date on which shows us his arch with concentric rings richly decorated with flowers and acanthus leaves (in fact conform to architectural dictates fifteenth). The date is confirmed by Bartolomeo Provencal in his already cited unpublished ms, so that reads: "This house was first manufactured outside the walls under the title of St. Anthony of Padua, but because in this city there was never curious c `havesse took the pen and antiquity of it havesse wrote, ... is not to be a hard thing, nor the time when they were founded, nor the zealous honor Divine person, that the habba made a beginning, nor the one already mentioned, nor even of this under the title of St. Francis of Assisi, to know the time ... It departed from that place where the Fathers and transferred to this we are near the Piazza, where vedeasi a marble fascia above the door of the Church with a iscritione in French Language carved, reports Father Pietro Radulfo Tossiniacense in his "Histories of the Seraphic Religion", which is saying:Locus Nicosiae est valde antiquus nihil certi potui reperire de eius constructione ob antiquitatem loci, qui totus rimosus est totusque minatur, quam vis modo a fratribus dicti loci restituantur. Primo frates habitabant in Ecclesia Sancti Antonini, Guardianus Sancti Francisci, et Sancti Antonini ante fores Ecclesiae Sancti Francisci est fascia marmoria cum quibusdam caratheribus ex Idiomate Gallico, quod anno 1427 constructum est.
